Corrections policy

Tax rules and annual figures change. We welcome specific reports that help us correct factual, arithmetic, sourcing, or implementation errors.

How to report an issue

Use the contact page. Include the page URL, the exact statement or calculator inputs, the result you expected, the tax year, and—when possible—a link to the relevant official form, instruction, revenue procedure, regulation, or state-agency source.

How reports are evaluated

  1. Reproduce the wording or calculator result.
  2. Identify whether the issue is factual, methodological, arithmetic, display-only, or a difference in assumptions.
  3. Check the applicable primary source and effective tax year.
  4. Test related visible text, structured data, examples, and calculator boundaries.
  5. Correct the affected material and run release checks before publication.

Material corrections

Material errors are corrected promptly after verification. Relevant page dates may be updated when the change is substantive. Small typographical or formatting fixes may be made without a separate notice. We do not silently convert an estimate into a claim of professional review, and we do not add a reviewer name unless that person actually reviewed the material.

Disagreements and assumptions

Two results can differ because of filing status, other income, dependents, deductions, credits, state adjustments, local taxes, or rounding. When the site's simplified model is the cause, the preferred fix is a clearer limitation or a more complete method—not a claim that the estimate fits every return.
