Privacy Policy
This page explains what data 1099TaxHelper.com collects, how cookies and analytics are used, how third-party advertising (including Google AdSense) operates on this site, and our affiliate disclosure.
Effective date: January 15, 2026. Operator: 1099TaxHelper.com (the "Site"). Contact: hello@1099taxhelper.com.
1. Information we collect
1099TaxHelper.com is a static informational website. The tax calculators on this site run entirely in your browser — the income figures, expense numbers, or filing-status options you enter are never transmitted to or stored by our servers. We do not require accounts, do not request your email, and do not log personally identifying information by default.
We collect only the standard request data that any web server records: anonymized IP address (used for spam protection and rough geolocation to recommend the right state calculator), browser user-agent, referring URL, and the page path you visited. This information is retained in aggregate analytics form only.
2. Cookies
1099TaxHelper.com uses cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:
a) Strictly necessary cookies
Used to remember your cookie-consent preference and to keep the site functioning correctly. These cannot be disabled.
b) Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are most useful to freelancers, which states have the most visitors, and how readers move through our content. Analytics cookies are anonymized via IP truncation and do not identify you personally.
c) Advertising cookies
Google AdSense and other approved advertising partners may set cookies to serve relevant ads, frequency-cap, and measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time at adssettings.google.com or via the YourOnlineChoices tool.
3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) operated by Google LLC. GA4 collects information such as page views, session duration, geographic region (country and state level), device type, and referring source. GA4 data is aggregated and used solely to improve the calculators and content on this site. For more information, see Google's privacy policy.
4. Advertising disclosure
1099TaxHelper.com is supported by display advertising. We work with third-party ad networks — including Google AdSense — to serve display ads on this site. These networks may use cookies and web beacons to deliver ads relevant to your interests, both on this site and across other websites you visit.
We do not control the content of third-party advertisements and do not endorse any specific advertised product or service. Clicking on an ad will take you to a third-party site governed by that site's own privacy policy.
5. Affiliate disclosure
Some links on 1099TaxHelper.com are affiliate links. This means that, at no extra cost to you, we may earn a small commission if you click through and sign up for or purchase a third-party product (for example, tax-preparation software, accounting tools, or business banking products tailored to freelancers). Affiliate revenue helps keep this site free, ad-light, and signup-free.
We only recommend products we believe are genuinely useful for US freelancers. Affiliate links do not influence our calculator math, our state-by-state guidance, or our editorial reviews. [Full list of current affiliate partners — to be inserted here as new partnerships are signed. This placeholder will be replaced with the live list.]
6. Children's privacy
1099TaxHelper.com is intended for adult freelancers, contractors, and small-business owners in the United States. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18.
7. Your rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we may hold about you. Because we collect minimal personal data and do not maintain user accounts, in practice the most useful action is to clear cookies in your browser. To make a formal request, email privacy@1099taxhelper.com.
8. Do Not Track signals
Some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is currently no industry standard for how DNT should be handled, so we do not respond to DNT signals at this time. You can control tracking via the cookie controls described above.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will always show the date of the most recent update. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
10. Contact
For privacy-related questions, email privacy@1099taxhelper.com. For general inquiries, see the contact page.
